Title: Vaseline / Citrine Glass Vase ID - please
Post by: thomasandkatherine on October 25, 2009, 04:23:04 AM
Hello, I would really appreciate some input in identifying the manufacturer and manufacture date of this vase.  The colour speaks for itself.  It is around 18cms tall and weighs about 350gms.  I suspect that it may be Greener or Derbyshire but would be grateful for an expert opinion. Many thanks

Alison — It's different to the Moore example shown in Thompson, but not sufficiently different to be another pattern by Moore.

That foot looks very Derbyshire, so that would be my first choice.   Unfortunately we'll probably never know for certain.

Also it could well have been a spill holder.

Thanks for the immediate reply.  I actually have a pair - does the spill suggestion fit with pairs or are they more likely to be vases in that case?

Alison — Have you ever met a shop assistant who wouldn't sell you a pair of anything given half a chance?

Very true - where there is commission at stake.  I have met shop assistants who would prefer that you don't even enter their shop.

Any idea of the age - are we looking at late Victorian?
