Title: Three more weights - 1 Baccarat? 2 Perthshire?
Post by: Ellie893 on October 26, 2009, 12:21:59 AM
Any ideas ?  The first paper weight is almost 3" across and about the same high.  The bottom is flat and polished.  The second is something over 2" across and 1/5" high; it has a star-cut base.

Any help in id'ing is greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

E.

The first might be a modern Baccarat. Is there a round etched Baccarat mark on the base - even a partial one?

The second could be a Perthshire Paperweights piece - PP4 deisgn, unsigned version, from 1969 to 1971. But your stated height (1/5") seems rather small.

It would be good if you could show photos of at least the full top views and also the side views.

Thanks for the feedback.  I am such an incompetent when it comes to posting photos: it takes me a month of Sundays to get them reduced to where they're acceptable.  I will try again.  In the meantime, the first paperweight has absolutely no identifying marks.   As for the second, of which I have two actually, I meant to say 1.5" in height.  Were Perthshire weights made with star bases ?  Just curious.

Thanks again.

Yes, Perthshire Paperweights weights sometimes had star cut bases and that is one feature that separates simair designs from the Strathearn company.

If you have problems with pics, please email them to me (via my Email icon below my personal details) and I will sort them out for you. If more than 4Mb per pic, please use separate emails.

Further pics on behalf of Ellie:

The one I think may be modern Baccarat.

And the ones that could be Perthshire Paperweights (includes one not previously shown):

The top picture is a Dupont period Baccarat from 1910-1920.
