Title: Bristol blue compote/sweet dish any ideas of age etc....
Post by: BRADBURY7308 on October 29, 2009, 07:20:53 PM
Purchsed this small 6" tall piece of bristol blue recently looks too have a fair amount of age from the base wear, has lost much of the gold-leaf from corners and edges but some still remains and has a nice vaseline type colour rim edge. I wondered what sort of age it might actually be and is there an exact term or phrase that would be used for such a piece ie compote/sweet dish etc... Also the inside of the dish originally had a leaf in the bottom at some time but only the remnents remain of the leaf i dont suppose it might have been a small grape bowl could it? Any ideas appreciated..thanks :ac1:
