Hi all
I picked this little piece up a couple of days ago for just 50p didnt realise untill i got home it was alexandrite and probably one of the most dramatic colour changes ive seen on a piece, a real strong lilac during natural light and an icy sky blue under any other light even the computer light makes it a srtong blue. Large ish, controlled bubbles
The piece stands at 7.5cms tall, 8.5cms in diameter, slight concave to the base with a heat treated pontil mark
anybody have any ideas on maker?
many thanks
michelle

Not sure but coincidently I listed a 'Lilac' Jack in the pulpit vase on ebay the other day, walked in to the kitchen and it changed to an icy Blue, weird even in this light now as I move it side ways from the wall to the door it changes, love it but don't think anyone else does, it's been on ebay a week and no watches LOL

sounds like your piece is also alexandrite or neodymium glass as its also known

Your JiP looks like it could be Aseda from that dog bone shape.
The colour changing has nothing to do with daylight or artificial light. It's a wavelength thing and the difference between incandescent (old fashioned tungsten) and fluorescent lighting (tubes and longlife).

To me the pontil mark whispers "Poland" or "China"...

ive just sold this piece on ebay for 99p (got fed up with it sat on the side and in desparate need of space ;D)
then today found this whilst looking up pukeberg
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PUKEBERG-SONG-VASE-OLLE-ANDERSSON-GLASS-BUBBLE-BOWL-/250624868716?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_Art_Glass&hash=item3a5a68016c
I am assuming this is not a correct ID the quality of mine is quite poor and im pretty certain they are by the same maker. Ive personally never seen the piece the seller has "likened" this little pot too
cheers
