I have posted a few items here recently and I would like to thank you for all your help. I have little knowledge of glass but it is growing slowly . One of the best books I have ever invested in is An Illustrated Dictionary of Glass by Newman , Published by Thames & Hudson and along with this fantastic website I'm slowly getting there.
I really love this little piece and the flash photos make it look much better . I'm not sure if it is a salt or a table posy vase or a finger bowl or just a decorative piece. I guess it is Murano (very light soda ? glass) and I think probably Victorian. The diameter of the bowl is 3 inches and the height 2.25 inches. Any advice would be lovely. Thanks for looking !

Salviati circa 1900, I think. You've got the terminology almost right. The glass is opalescent not opaline; the glitter is gold not aventurine. And it is a wonderful item.
