Title: Tall, Smoky Glass Vase w/Nice Finished bottom....Czech?
Post by: eglass on November 13, 2009, 05:48:54 PM
Hello!

Thought I'd check with you all on this nice tall art glass vase - it's a smoky brown color with an interesting treatment on the outside. 12" tall, about 4" diameter, nicely ground and finished pontil, and OF COURSE no marks.

Thanks for looking -

Kelli

Kelli:

It looks Scandinavian to me. It reminds me of something Nuutajarvi Notsjo might do, although I haven't seen one quite like this. What does the surface feel like? I'm probably asking how close to the surface is the marvered in frit? Did it come with that other Scandinavian-looking piece you posted?

Hi David!

It's definitely got a little texture feel to the surface where the metallic salts or whatever were applied, but very little difference between those areas and the plain glass. We've had this one around for a few months, didn't buy it recently like the little teardrop shaped one.

Funny, I thought the glass color reminded me of Holmegaard pieces we've had in the past, but the decor is sure different.

Thanks!
