Are these Murano by any chance please?

Set of ruby glasses with clear decorative base.

Tall cobalt blue bud vase - white showing through on upper neck.  Has marks on the base where held by glassmaker's tool I think.

No idea on the blue one Anne, but the reds I do know. My mum has some the same - I love them! They are American... Anchor Hocking Red (Royal Ruby?) with a boopie pattern foot. http://www.replacements.com/webquote/AHCBOOR.htm

Many thanks Anne :P   I checked the link you gave, and mine are the 3.75" version ..... 'Boopie Red Pattern'.  Don't you just love that name!  I have a complete set of six - all immaculate.   The link is to a Replacement Company, so they could well  be quite old???  

Have you any idea how long your Mum has had hers?  I think they have a 60s retro feel to them, but only guessing.  Of course they could have been made for years until quite recently.  Perhaps some of our American members might know?


The tall blue one - very Carlo Moretti looking - but not certain.

Anne, just looked up your Boopie in Florence's book glass of the 40s,50s, 60s. He says the original name for your glasses was Berwick. He also lists it with their Bubble line. and gives production dates of 1940-1965. Terry

Hi Anne, Boopie is the name for the foot style not the goblet shape. They made the same shape glass with at least two different style feet - each with a different name, to complicate things! Now Terry mentions it, Berwick is right - I remember looking it up ages ago and had forgotten the name.

I don't know how old Mum's are, but I do know she has had them since I was a small child - for as long as I can remember in fact so at least 45 years. I have no idea where she found them - we lived in Radcliffe at the time I was born so no obvious American links! She also had an Anchor Hocking Royal Ruby vase like the middle one in this group: http://yobunny.org.uk/gallery1/displayimage.php?pos=-147 so maybe they all came from the same place/person.

The blue one also reminds me of Carlo Moretti's pencil necked vases, but all the ones by Moretti have a clear foot and none pictured are cased which I assume you are referring to when you say white shows through the upper neck. I really do like this shape and such a lovely color. Terry

I have to agree with you Terry.  The Moretti ones I have seen have either a frosted or clear foot, whereas mine is cased.  Also, mine is more of an onion shape whereas the Moretti ones are more rounded and ball-like.  I hadn't noticed that before :roll:   It seems fairly old with wear on the base and has a 50s vibe (rather like me come to think of it :lol:

 The blue one looks very like a vase somebody showed us all in a collection of yellow pieces. I'll dig around for it.

Thanks for the link Sue :P .  I see Peter and Terry both identified the one shown in that thread as being Moretti - so hopefully if they are looking in, they might care to cast a glance at my blue one :shock:

What I meant by the white showing through. As the neck stretches outwards, the blue overlay becomes thinner towards the top, allowing the white to show through more, resulting in a much lighter colour blue. Hope this makes sense :P
