I rather doubt that this weight (http://cgi.ebay.ch/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220514206891) dates to the early 1900s - I would guess more 1970s from Isle of Wight (or another studio related to Michael Harris).
Whatever it is - it carries an interesting selection of signatures on the base: anyone recognises any of these signatures? Are they from glass makers - or just individuals participating in an unknown event?

Don't recognize the signatures but could be a leaving present or suchlike with everyone in the studio signing it, perhaps. A bit like a card passed round the office.

Must be John, Jack, Jean, Joe and Jerry 8) all have an identical J as first initial. Perhaps a weight maker with multiple personalities, :nogoss: :nogoss: :nogoss:

Yeah, wondered about that. My other thought was that it was just someone practicing their signature....as one does...though most people do this on paper, from time to time glassmakers, and their assistants, practice signing on less important pieces!
