Title: When good glass goes bad!
Post by: antiques-in-nj on November 28, 2009, 10:21:53 PM
Here is an exapmle of a victorian shakers that probably was supposed to be thrown out but survived.
It is a little blurry but you get the idea.
Does anyone else have strange examples of glass like this?

Definitely. These tumblers look like they were washed repeatedly in a dishwasher. They were probably gorgeous in their day. What are we supposed to do with glass like this? Too ugly to use, too good to throw away.

I'd sell it for five bucks at a garage sale and someone who comes along and doesn't collect will go away very happy with their obviously "Ancient" find.

The way I look at it is that I'm a shaker collector and I think the error pieces in shakers are a great find. They may not have a monetary value
but they are great conversation pieces.
