Title: Murano Fish Lamp

I recently brought this lamp, which unfortunately is damaged, with the whole fin broken off one of the fish, and a chip off the base. Was more damaged than the seller had stated. But I liked it, so took the chance that it may be able to be repaired,
Has anyone any idea who would have made it?  I've searched the net, but not been able to find anything like it.

Gorgeous lamp, Sandra. If you didn't pay too much, I think you made a good purchase. Many of the more complicated lamps have some damage unless they were setting in a box over the years. I do not know who did your lamp, but the fins of your fish remind me of AVeM fish. They made lamps, so it may be a good name to research. Wish I could give a more definite answer.

Thanks again Anita! Did'nt think of AVeM, so will do a search, see what I can find. Did'nt pay much our NZ$50, so was happy with that.

sandy, i would have loved to see a pic showing the lamp from a distance,
i've not seen another like it.
I like it, its the stem of the lamp that interests me, another nice buy   :hiclp: :hiclp: :chky:

 :kissy: So glad you like it, such a shame its missing a fin, not sure on the stem as well, it had a big bit of plaster of paris on the top, which I've cleaned off, and the top is'nt straight. The seller did'nt mention that as well!

from personal experience don't worry about the plaster of paris, i have 2 lamp base's that have that at the top,
easily removed, but i leave it.

does your lamp have an air twist or is it surface deco ?

Plaster of Paris was used to stick the metal fittings on. You often find it holding metal rims on old glass bowls

Gosh, I learn something new everytime I come on here! So glad that the stem was'nt broken off.  How do I tell if its air twist or surface, sorry never had anything like this before. :huh:

Hi ,
airtwist is airbubbles trapped inside the glass stem, which is then twisted ,to give a spiral effect,
the glass stem would feel smooth, i imagine yours is a spiral effect on the surface, so its
bumpy all the way down (if that makes sense,  :D  like a candy twisted sweet)
