Title: More birds but this time ducks - who by and where from?
Post by: peejyweejy on December 01, 2009, 09:42:40 PM
I think this is a lemonade glass and probably 1950ish but I don't really know. It appears to be etched and then hand painted over, it's not transfer print. It is very colourful and if you look closely you can see other small flocks of mallards off in the distance. Any ideas please. PJ

sorry, this won't be of any help - just some idle thoughts.          Cud also be for lager - a 50's or 60' slightly twee -  the thinking woman's lager and lime look.   How about being decorative only, in view of the gold rim.    Hadn't realized until I googled, how common the Mallard is on drinking glasses - but yours are the best I can see.   What is the extent of the wear on the base?   How about made for wildfowlers when then return from the marshes, or a purchase from the gift shop at Slimbridge :)   cheers             Paul S.

Hi Paul, thanks for your comments - yes, there are lots of mallards out there. I thought lager too, I might have a large G&T in it at Christmas - but I won't put it in the dishwasher.  :-\
