Hi All,

After such a quick attribution for a depression glass piece I thought I'd put this one up for the Murano people to have a look at.

I have an idea what it may be, but I'd like to hear from other people.

It's 30cm long and 20cm across and 12.5cm high (12" x 8" x 5") and thick! Maybe 1.5" at it's thickest. I tried to weigh it but our scales only go to 9lb!

The dark olive things are thumb grips and although they look to be placed rather haphazardly at first, they are in fact perfectly placed to let you grip the bowl well.

Ignore the dirt  :-[ I've been a little lazy lately.  :sleep:

Your bowl does look like a Murano opalino piece. Unfortunately, I haven't seen this design before, so can't say for sure that it is from Murano. It is an interesting piece and very attractive.

I have the same bowl  i think but its outside by the fishpond i use it as a birdbath as it is badly chipped around the foot , ive had it many years  its to dark and cold to check it now , its very stylish and the birds love it the frost and snow over the years have not damaged it . i will check in the morning i am sure its Seguso and at least 3.5 kgs

I was thinking perhaps Barovier or maybe Cedenese but I don't base that on anything concrete.

The trouble with being in Australia most stuff is misattributed by three or four sets of hands before it arrives here.

As a birdbath? Now that takes strength of character. You have my admiration. It's a lovely piece, which I haven't seen on line, in books or in reality.  I had thought that the foot might have had a scavo finish until I saw your comment about dirt. Seguso would make sense.

My birdbath does have several BIG chunks out of the foot , i looked today the shape is the same but the brown bits are a bit wider . Nowt posh about Arrer not since i moved in anyway . >:(
