Hi!
I'd like to know if anyone can translate this for me:
"Model vystaven v r. 1972 na výstavě České lisované sklo v Gottwaldově."
It's from the e-catalogue of the recent czechoslovakian glass auction that can be found here:
http://www.sypka.cz/velka-misa/a46/d10484/
I found the bowl/plate in clear glass today (with a price tag of 4,6 euro) and I'd like to know as much as I can about it. I can figure out pretty much the whole accompanying text but the section above is a bit too hard.
Best regards
Emil

Do you have two little flags at the top of the page showing the bowl?if you click on the union jack it will translate it for you,if not it says,
'brabec jiri' meaning - big bowl...... Baroloc model 5126 ,Sklo Union Teplice,Rosice glassworks,1969.exhibited in Gottwaldov in 1972,does that help?Keith.

LOL, sorry I didn't notice the flags! Thanks Keith!
The ad says "rare", does anyone know if it's only the color in the auction that is rare or if it's the model itself that's rare?
Best Regards

"Model shown at the 1972 Czech Pressed Glass exhibition at Gottwaldov (Zlin) 1972".
but "RARE"????
Not at all, the decorated versions of this item, are by far, the most scarce example of this pattern. There are very, VERY, few examples of Sklo Union production, which I personally, would describe as rare. Of those, most were withdrawn, not from poor design, but scale, where the weight of the item, nullified its usefulness. I can think of just a dozen items which would be classified as "Scarce" or "Rare"..... No, I will not say what they are.

'brabec jiri' meaning - big bowl......
Just to clarify, Jiri Brabec is the designer's name, not the Czech for big bowl! ;D

Dear friends,
I would like to focus you to another Czech frase that should be quite important for you:
It is written there "drobný oťuk" = "a little chip"
I have made several such mistakes at French eBay becouse I did not undersand it fully. before you will decide to purchase more expensive Czech piece described in Czech language only be carefull (or ask Jindrich )
