Title: Decanter with figural nude inside
Post by: purrrrr on December 18, 2009, 12:51:13 AM
Hi All,

A customer of mine is looking for something very specific and I don't know where to begin to start looking in order to help him.

His wife collects decanter sets and he said a couple of years ago, while in New York, they ran across a decanter set that had nude stemmed cordials and the decanter itself had a figural nude inside it. He told his wife they'd go back before they left, but when they went back the next day, it was gone. Would this by any chance ring a bell with anyone? I'd love to help him find one and figured if I could perhaps pin down a maker we could go from there.

Thanks for any and all help!

Sandy

Not sure about a decanter but see Statuesque range by Cambridge Glass Co, USA

Several European co's also produced such items.

Hello Sandy,I think most members this side of the 'pond' are tucked up in bed at this time but I'm sure someone will be able to help, not me I'm afraid, not my 'cup of tea',best of luck with the search,Keith.

Thank you for the quick responses!

I'm pretty familiar with the Cambridge stems and he said that the ones they saw were "more dainty" than those, which made me think that perhaps they might have been Bimini. But then I know I often see other figural nude designs in some of your glass over there across the pond, which I'm not so familiar with, so thought I would pose the question here. The mention of the decanter is what really threw me for a loop, cuz I don't have a clue.

I'll talk to him again to find out exactly about the figure inside the decanter, but from what he said, it sounded like it matched the stems of the glasses.

WOW! Very Cool!

Thank you so much for the links, Pamela. I'll send those to my customer and see if that is what he is looking for.

LOL...I'd like to have one of those myself!
