Title: Hinged Vanity box, English, French, Bohemian?
Post by: Ohio on December 18, 2009, 05:38:56 AM
Was at a home sale today & in a cabinet was this piece. I usually call them vanity boxes. Fairly certain its European, has a wire stand, enameled top, stand is afixed by a shaft of glass that protrudes from the bottom & is plastered into the stand. Measures 4" in height & 5" diameter. Are there any clues in the pics that might narrow down wheter its English, French or Bohemian? Thanks for any response. Ken

Hello:

I have had some boxes in this style and all were coming from central europe, i would say Bohemian, Austrian, German, Czech....around 1880-1910.

Cheers.

Thanks. I figured it would be impossible to pinpoint. Ken
