I have a huge (near spherical, 4.5 inch / 115 mm diameter) paperweight engraved on the base 'Amethyst Sycamore' and signed S xxxx-Smith. Can anyone shed any light on the maker?

Mystery solved. The weight was made by Sally Penn-Smith, a silk painter who worked in glass for a time in the UK. She now appears to work as a (non-glass) artist in South Australia. Charles Hadjamach's book shows a similar paperweight.
