Hello everyone
I have this small stemmed vase it appears to be aged and has like a bone figure etched to it. it measures 20 cms tall
i think pics say most..
cheers lynne
sorry the pics of the etching arent very clear
-
Can't help with origin but the etching looks a bit like bamboo, oriental maybe?
-
Hi Keith
it appears to be a stick man to me!! the vase doesnt seem oriental though??
thanx for your comments
cheers lynne

Hi lynne,
the knopped stem and thick foot, make me think its old, does it have much signs of age to the base?
( ive just noticed you say aged, it looks a bit 18thC to me)
-
hi andy
i will take a couple of pics of base later today.
i agree its aged but origin is puzzling
-
AS PROMISED MORE PHOTOS OF THE BASE AGAINST WHITE BACKGROUND
-
Lynne,
its not my field, but could the engraving be a bit 'Aboriginal' in style
Im sure they used bones in their art. May make it quite an old and rare piece!
(ive got thoughts of a young Jenny Agutter  in 'walkabout')

More views of the engraving might help, is it on both sides or is that reflections?
-
hi there
happy new year
the engraving is both sides it is very hard to photograph
here are two more at different angles
-
Still say it's bamboo, look what I found on the top of the plate cupboard today while looking for a leak,Keith.
-
Well, fancy that
Strikes me yours doesnt feel that old Keith, any sign of age or aborigines ;D
Andy
(still havent got picture of Jenny Agutter out of my head ::) )
-
I'd say it may date back to the 70's,very little wear, glass quite thin and no sign of aborigines, only bamboo,Keith
-
Sorry Lynne,
may no be that rare after all :'(
Andy
:D
