Title: Tapered Cylindrical Vases... Murano?
Post by: kalo93406 on January 07, 2010, 03:05:13 AM
Hi.. Nice to find this glass message board.  Could anyone help me with this pair of vases?  I'm hoping to find out the place of origin and manufacture if the style is distinctive enough to know.  12 inches tall, 3 in dia. at bottom, 1.5 in dia. at top.  No grinding on the bottom, top looks to be ground, can feel the glass is slightly rippled going down the side.

Thanks! R:)

Welcome to the board. Modern China or Eastern European at a guess

Hi and welcome,
I would tend to agree with Christine, i dont recognise it as an Italian design, and shape looks contemporary,
though those stripes are pretty good, and its well made. Eastern Europe would be my first guess,
i wouldnt rule out modern Italian.
Regards
Andy

I have seen these, in charity shops (with white stripes, but otherwise identical), one had a sticker marked "Made in China," but the shop would not let me photograph the label (in Knutsford).

They were selling in the Charity shops for more that double what you are saying and my friend liked them so much that she bought one, unfortunately she bought hers before I found the labelled version. She still has it, and, if I might say, they are of really good quality!

Thanks for the info Della. I got the two for US$10.  I thought they were very nice and can fit in a modern style setting.  Best.. R:)
