I wondered whether it was Czech? It's quite large - about ten inches across and about the same to its highest point. I've allowed the picture to be dark as this represents its true colour - every other photograph I took seemed to reflect and become lighter and much more red than the reality. Underneath is completely smooth with no distinguishing marks anywhere to be seen. It was in a large box of glass I bought at auction. I always appreciate those kind souls who share their expertise so generously so thank you in advance.

Hi, I'm afraid it's quite hard to tell what it looks like at all - any chance of a pic on a white background? Perhaps a sheet, or some white paper?
-
and a base picture please

Here goes, hope this is a bit clearer.

Could maybe be Chalet or Laurentian, (I think it is) from Canada. Check the bottom for acid etching.

Many thanks. I can't see any acid etching I'm afraid. What I did see, and I can't believe that I didn't realise this before, is that there are two quite separate and distinct colours - orange and red, which I have photographed. The overall effect as you can see from the other photos is of an uniform colour. Does this make a Canadian source more or less likely do you think?
-
I tend to think of these as Italian but with little to base my thoughts upon.

If you shine a UV torch on these it should glow a faint pink, which indicates the use of Selenium.
-
Czech is likely too. Chalet less likely, as Fen is in the UK I think
-
Think I've got a relative,no uv reaction,Keith.

Definitely not Chalet. I don't know about Laurentian, Carolyn. What did they make?

Hmmmm, I thought I had replied to this, but now I can't find it. Which is fine, cuz I just needed to correct it anyways. When I said Laurentian, I was really meaning Lorraine. Does that make more sense now? :-[ With the two colours, I too would say definitely not Chalet or Lorraine. I would say Czech/Bohemian.
