Another one I've had for awhile (not sure if I've asked about this before?) maybe whitefriars? not sure... cheers!
-
Not Whitefriars. I have seen this before but cannot remember who it is. Is Scandinavian though from rememberance!
You should get an ID soon on this. Is a beautiful piece! Have not seen this piece in that colour before though. Maybe the memory will kick in shortly!
Maybe the mods could move it to the Scandinavian section for you.

Similarities with this one http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,27174.0.html, but no definite ID yet.

I agree - it's a lovely piece of glass. All I can add to the discussion is that the colour is very Finnish - Nuutajarvi maybe? Certainly Kaj Franck designed a lot of glass in this kind of dark petrol blue.

I see it is for sale listed as Whitefriars. Did you find some authentication for it after all?

They were told in the first incarnation of this thread that it is 100% not Whitefriars...
http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,29920.0.html
But then they were also told in this thread that their bowl is not Keith Murray...

Never let it be said that facts should ever get in the way of a financially-rewarding attribution. ::)

agreed - a seller I won't be buying from......
Happy Australia day to all ! :D
-
Listing now states Scandinavian not Whitefriars, folks.
-
Although the possibility is vaguely mentioned...

Oops, two threads, thought it looked vaguely familiar. Obviously not getting enough vitamins....
Bad manners too, goodwill liable to diminish.

Thank you John for your earlier link and to others who have made suggestions. It does have similarities to the vase pictured... my one is very heavy and quite thick glass. I saw a Whitefriars vase on Christies website which was what I thought at the time a similar colour, described as 'midnight blue', which is why I had it listed as Whitefriars, which I have since changed.
Thanks :pb:

The Whitefriars catalogues should always be your first port of call when making Whitefriars attributions:
http://www.whitefriarsorg.org/GMIE-sm/whitefriars_catalogues.htm
If the design is clearly post-1940s and it's not in the linked-to catalogues then it's almost certainly not Whitefriars. Very few verifiable 'anomalies' exist.

My pleasure Paul. :)
