Title: Daum France modern design ashtray ?
Post by: NKP on January 27, 2010, 09:47:00 PM
... ashtray (?) with a thick rim, raised to one side of the inside to act as a lense for a circle of blue glass applied to the underside.
Marked to the side "Daum France -" in a steady hand.

Diameter: 11 cm.

Can anyone give me a clue where to begin looking ?

Hi,
Yep, this is a modernish piece of Daum, recently picked up a piece myself. I believe this piece probably relates to around the 1980s.

After the war Daum dropped the 'Nancy' and 'Cross of Lorraine' from their signature and the more contemporary pieces on the whole are just signed Daum France.

The more plain clear crystal pieces were largely produced from the late 70s onwards.  I'll try and dig out a website from memory when I have a mo. I know there are a fair few pieces of modern Daum that come up on ebay.

I'll see what I can dig out.

Cheers, Greg
