Title: Is this the worst made glass ever aquired?
Post by: Fen on January 28, 2010, 03:01:13 PM
Is this the worst made piece of glass ever acquired or do you possess an even better example? When I bought a big box of various glass at auction I saw this at a distance and thought Caithness but just take a look at the pictures. The whole vase, which is 7.5 inches high has bits of what I can only describe as multi coloured grit inside the glass. There appears to a large bit of putty embedded inside the front along with various unintended bubbles of various shapes and sizes! Yet the overall shape is neat and the fluting at the top is beautifully done. I'm curious - was it a bad day at a far distant factory not too long ago or a creditable attempt in an Adult Education class. Was it sold (I don't imagine so). I have to admit I've grown rather fond of it.

Your eloquent writing on this disaster of a piece brought a smile to face in another unbearable office day. Many thanks for that!

It would literally fit into the category of 'end of day' glass,
looks like they dropped a lump on the floor, but didnt want to waste it
