I was at a friends last weekend to photograph several labels on items in his glass collection, a bit nerdy but I don't get out much. His glass is mostly Whitefriars so I had trouble staying awake ;D) and one of the items he has that neither of us had a clue about is one of these vases:

Does anyone know who made it, the seller has thrown a few names around but I am not convinced.

I think the origin of Scandinavian is correct. Oddly, I have double layer Sommerso piece that I believe to be Scandinavian which has a similiar type base, except that it is a four sided (sort of diamond shape - not the best explanation) that has a similar colour on the secondary layer to it! I wont even attempt to describe the first layer as i will no doubt get it wrong. Unfortunately it is packed away and will be a few months before i can get to the box. I will post once I have rediscovered it!

Looking forward to seeing a photo, I will snap a photo of my friends vase too - will need one for this thread when the ebay listing ends.

Excellent John, I might get around to unpacking it earlier, hopefully by the end of the month if all goes to plan.
-I am a WFs buff as well! Slowly getting the pieces I want together!

I just discovered I already had pics! This one is just over 40 cms in height. The tallest sommerso I own. The green is darker/brighter though. The base is similar in style. I think this is Scandinavian?!
-
My guess on origin for your vase would be Czech, it is though a flailing around kind of wild stab in the dark. :D

Ha ha John, flailing around in the dark! Just don't knock over any glass whilst your doing it! :24:
I have no idea to this piece either. And out of all the sommerso's I own, all the house guests/friends used to comment on this one mostly!
It is permanently packed away now as I have accidently knocked it over twice in a week and decided to not tempt fate for a third go! Thankfully no damage to the piece

hi,does this look the same as the one i had?not got it now as someone broke i and thought it was funny to smash all the glass i had on show, starting again though after many months,it is on here bit i dont know how to do a thread to it
-
You're kidding, Kaz, someone smashed all your glass? That's heartbreaking. :'( (No pun intended.)
-
yep smashed the lot Lee's heart not been into it for months thats why we havent been on here,he wouldnt even go looking for anything till the other day so hopefully he's getting back into it
-
Oh Kaz how dreadful for you both. Here's hoping things look up.
-
Oh {{{Kaz}}} That's just awful! It's a glassie's worst nightmare.
-
Argh! I would of been on a rampage if someone done that to my glass collection!
I have rule I tell my friends and my flatmates and there house guests. You break it, you pay for it and not at the price I paid for it!
Although I have had one piece stolen 3 months ago. My blood pressure was through the roof for weeks. Thankfully this person is not allowed here any more! I just wish they had stolen something I wasn't going to keep but was going to sell! Would of made the heartbreak less unbearable.
I have a small Sommerso (different shape) in the same colour Kaz. Will post when I find the pics. I love Sommerso pieces!
