Title: Uranium ??
Post by: petet63 on January 30, 2010, 02:21:23 PM
I dont know anything about Uranium Glass but picked this up for 50p just to check it out. It seems to give the right reaction with UV light. If anyone could tell me anything about this piece I would be grateful.

Most definitely uranium. It could be Sowerby, but I can't access my catalogues at the moment.

Tick, tick, tick ..... definitely uranium .... can only agree with whoever said probably Sowerby .... anything that glows like that is uranium glass for sure .... just don't go at it with sandpaper!!!!

 >:D

Following the "tick, tick, tick", Herb -  I trust you were not impersonating a Geiger counter????
These are highly inefficient machines, only detecting approximately 10% of emitted radiation at most and do NOT detect radiation from uranium glass.

They're just not good enough to do it.   8)
