Hi all
Another nameless piece of mine!! Polished Pontil and heavy for what it is!!
Also started my web albums, must clean my glass and also learn how to take pictures...
Opps it's 262mm high and 48mm wide

Jay

The indent on the base is moulded rather than ground and polished.
Looks like contemporary Far East / Chinese production.

Many thanks again and I need to read up on bases...Also scary thought some my unknown pieces are turning out to be Chinese...
Thanks Nic and I will hopefully get better.
Regards

It's a learning process - you should see some of the junk I bought when I first started collecting glass 5 years ago. You eventually refine your eye and your tastes (and usually the depth of your wallet/purse!).
-
Now that I have started getting some of it out the loft (we are moving) I thought it would be best to start to list it and find out what I've got...
It's a scary amount! I will keep reading now and thanks for all your help.
Forgot to ask...have you got any ideas with the tall orange twisted stem bowl? It looks/feels so old..

:24: I used to collect the good stuff, these days if I am not collecting information it is the junkiest glass, in many eyes. These are the gems that no-one knows anything about. Chinese glass would certainly fall into such a category. Look at the junk produced in the 17th century and now lusted over :-\
Mind you, I started off collecting what everyone consider junk 30 years ago and now it is prized and out of my pocket.
