As you can see by the base, this has a bit of age - any ideas on maker or country of origin....please.

I would guess Bohemian, late 19th, early 20th century. Probably a rose bowl missing its metal grill.

Hi Christine....I did think of a rose bowl but would there be wear around the rim or some sign that it had a metal grill?

Probably not; they only fit on loosely

I agree with Bohemian, but my experience is that when designed to have a grill, they generally did not detail the rim that well. No need... as it was going to be covered and was unnecessary.....  The neck also seems a little short for the addition of the metal, as much of the metal of the period was made by a handful of companies and had some form of lattice style decor around the neck.....

I'd put it more recent - early thirties.
