Title: Large Murano Sommerso? Flavio Poli Cenedese? Vase
Post by: Fisher Brookfield on February 07, 2010, 03:50:18 PM
Hi all , I hope that someone can help me to confirm if this is a Murano Sommerso or if it is something else. I bought it at a car boot sale about 3 years ago and have been doing research to try and find out who made it. It looks to me like it could be a vase by either Flavio Poli or Cenedese but i could be wrong as i regularly am. The vase is 3.80Kg in weight 13" in height and 6" wide to the widest point. The base is shiny.

It doesn't look like Seguso or Cenedese. The lines are not clean enough and there are bubbles within the glass. I do not know, but I'm leaning toward Chinese for this one.

I agree with Anita. Execution is haphazard and both shape and thickness of the glass are irregular.

I would also lean towards a Chinese piece with a polished bottom.

I suppose, with the polished bottom it could also be of Brazilian origins. I tend to forget they produce glass like this there also and I am of the impression they would at least pay more attention to bottom work....
