Title: Small deeply cut clear crystal vase

A very small vase measuring 12.5cm in height, top 3.2cm dia. and the base measuring 3.7cm dia.  It should be noted that on the base of the vase is concaved and smooth to touch, however, very uneven. within the base and standing proud is a small perfectly round ring that could possibly signify a stamp.  The perfectly round circle measures 4cm dia.  I am unsure of this particular vase, but hopefully the pictures will shine some light.

very similar in shape and style to a couple of stuart crystal pieces ive had, but also seen some in Webb and in Edinburgh crystal, im pretty certain that all of these companies etched & stickered, sometimes both/sometimes one or the other, so its highly possible some one washed the sticker off :cry:

With reference to the info. within the description - The perfectly round circle measures 4cm dia.  This should read 0.4cm dia. Thanks for letting us know Frank.

I have a question & its probably related to differences as to how US compared with europeans view things & its simply for my education when using the board to describe pieces. In the US we would say this is cut (copper wheel cutting) not etched. We view etched as producing a pattern with acid. Does this differ with the european view? Ken

I understand the same as you Ken, although I frequently see the terms being used interchangeably. I suspect it's due to misunderstanding / confusion over what etching actually is.

I also am enclined to agree with Anne.  This particular small vase looks etched and cut but still not sure of the technical term that should be used.

It's cut. Some of the cuts are polished, and some are not. That's why they look different
