I am sure that this paperweight (http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/710-53481-19255-0/1?icep_ff3=2&pub=5574631383&toolid=10001&campid=5336261829&customid=&icep_item=140381854391&ipn=psmain&icep_vectorid=229508&kwid=902099&mtid=824&kw=lg) is antique French, but I don't see it as Clichy. I favour St Mandé, or possibly Grenelle. Any thoughts?

I keep hoping for a nice presentation at PCA or Wheaton on the topic. (But it seems that one of the few people who is an excellent speaker and researcher and could enlighten us wants to talk about Chinese Whites instead at Wheaton Paperweight Fest this coming May... ::) ) No pressure here Alan.

I don't know enough (or have enough material) about St Mandé/Grenelle to fill a slot on that topic alone - but if there was interest in a talk on some of the more interesting and challenging ID questions in antique weights generally, then I reckon I could work one up by the time of the next PCA Convention. I guess it would need a somewhat more snappy title! ;)

And Grenelle is the least covered of those two. Best places for information and images are PCA Bulletins (can't recall which ones right now) and the "Identification" books by George Kulles.

That's much nicer than 'typical', Andreas! I wish most were all like that with a ring of roses.

Here is an image of what I am told by an expert is a nice Grenelle, rather than St Mandé, but I couldn't be sure.
