Title: GREEN OPAQUE JUG

Hi could anyone identify this opaque green cream jug?
The rim is scalloped and the handle is fluted. The body has gold and enameled inclusions on the body.
The jug stands approx 2.3/4inches tall and the rim mouth 2 .1/2 inches wide.
It also has an engraved inscription presumibly put on at a later date Mrs Brown

Possibly an exposition piece because of the typical personalisation and that type of enamelling typical of Bohemia.

Can we see the base and the inscription please. Have you tried it under a UV light? Looks like it might be uranium glass. I might also go for English, but as Frank says it could also be Bohemian. Late 19th, early 20th century though

Good morning, have managed to upload 2 photographs of the base and inscription.There is a polished pontil that was hiding under a faded sticky label.

sorry missed the inscrition off. And Not sure about the uv as yet until i find my lamp.

Hi sorry for the delay in repling awaiting a new UV light the other has gone walk about. The last 3 photo,s you can see the etching of the name which is a shame. I will test the jug once i have the new UV light and then reply back if thats OK.

Mod: In the post with pic with the red cloth background, I have removed the second pic as it was the same as the first. Was there supposed to be a different pic in there?

The etching of the name is not a shame. I can't tell if it was originally painted and it's worn off (it would have been cold painted and not fired on) or done with an engraving tool, but it gives you the name of its first owner. It was personalised to order much as glass is today. That makes it possible that it was purchased at one of the great 19th century exhibitions (expositions, as Frank said). The name is its history not a defilement.

Thanks Mod the second picture was a mistake was one too many .
Yes you are correct the etching on the jug is very personnelised and part of its history.
