Title: Blenko, Murano or someone else?
Post by: BJB on November 12, 2005, 04:43:37 PM
Hi All,

I have just bought these two lovely lidded jars, they are a very big step up from the usual ones in both size, colour and quality.

This one looks like a space ship and has a clear stem and is 13" tall, and is a nice pinky orange colour, and I wondered if it might be Blenko. The foot is smooth underneath.

The other is red with a yellow/green foot and sommerso around the lid. It has a moulded dimpled decoration and the foot has a little dimple underneath where it was finished off. I wondered if this might be Italian/Murano. This is only 11" tall.

Mod: Pics have vanished

Many thanks,

My guess is Italian (not Murano)
based on other similar examples seen here and elsewhere.

Hi Peter,

I agree with you that the second one is Italian but the first one is much nicer glass and shape, and the foot is so different. I'll try and get a picture tomorrow in daylight as the colour is so unusual.

Here are the pictures in day light. First the orange one.

Now the red one.

Which has a yellow foot in that light.

I like them but OH doesn't
