7 inches across,presume it's from Italy and quite new but pretty,suppose to general to put a name to,Keith.

Keith, you're right that it is Italian. Underplates such as this were made by Salviati in the late 1800s-early 1900s. Your plate looks like it might be Salviati.

I checked Sheldon Barr's Venetian Glass, Confections in Glass and found a couple of underplates that were like yours, but in different colors. Barr has the glass listed as Salviati Dott/Artisti Barovier 1877-1914.

You got a great deal. It originally had a matching bowl. Sometimes one of the pieces gets broken. Other times the sets get separated by some of the dummies on eBay. I always get upset when I see the pieces of a set being sold separately. If someone doesn't buy all of the pieces, it will be difficult to ever match the set again. I understand breaking down sets of stems, because collectors usually don't want an entire set. But breaking apart a bowl from its underplate is a sad thing. (Really, I wish the sets of stems were kept together, but I understand selling them in pairs.)
