This is a very charming moulded glass elephant, slightly stippled finish, part of a small lot of modern studio glass. Does anyone recognise the maker of this? No mark or signature that I can find.
Approx length 4 ins 100mm, height to top of head 2.25 ins 55 mm.

Hi, hope you don't mind if I give this a nudge - I'm sure that someone would have said if they knew, but worth one little bump I think. thanks in advance if you have any info.

I wonder if he's recycled glass

He might well be, I was pleased that he had a hand pulled trunk and tail - I didn't think that very cheap imports would have bothered with the hand work? Although I suppose in India and China hand work is pretty cheap. The trunk hasn't been separately applied like the tail, it looks as though the front of the head was reheated and then the trunk pulled.
Everything else in the little batch I got him in was nice quality, so I suppose I am assuming from that he isn't going to be dirt rubbish. But I could well be wrong.

Hi there.
It reminds me of those old *blueish colored* glass insulators that were made...like here, by Dominion Glass. See this link, and the one to the Right - that is Blue. http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,18088.0.html
That is what kind (and color) of glass it reminds me of....

Thanks Andy, I like these!
Not sure that these aren't completely hand made though? I can't see any sign of any mould lines on the legs, they look more the way that Wedgwood finish the legs of their hand blown elephants?

thanks Rose, I don't know anything about insulators so these are interesting. I would expect them to have been made of recycled glass, so that may well be the linking factor.
