Title: Is it a posy bowl?
Post by: malcmat on February 23, 2010, 03:34:49 PM
Hi, Any ID on this green bowl? 5 inches dia with out turned edge and 2.75 inches tall and a ground and polished base with diamond cut in the centre. It does react to UV light.

Hmmm hard to tell with that pink behind it, coloured glass is much easier to see on a matt white background. Could you try that and we'll be able to make out more. Also a side on view would be helpful please.

This looks a bit like Inwald/Rudolfova Hut's 'Lord' pattern, but I can't find it in Marcus' database (which accompanies Sklo Union: Art Before Industry, Marcus Newhall, Hope Fountain Books ISBN 978-0-956063-0-7, available here (http://www.sklounion.com/).)

Can anyone do better than me?

Might it have started out as a pressed tumbler then been really enthusiastically re-heated, spun out and turned over?  Perhaps a one-off experiment or a very short run.  The pattern is vaguely reminiscent of some mass-produced tumblers.

My thought was Lord as well Cathy, but not a shape I've seen before either as far as I can recall.
