4 inches high,the applied piece reminds me of Scandi' stuff,polished pontil,any ideas please,Keith.

Could be Wedgwood, perhaps the little jasperware plaque has fallen off.

I do know what it is, but I've forgotten right now.
I saw a lovely ambery one, made a mental note to find out, found out, then forgot.
If I find out again, I'll report back. It might have been in the new Hajdamach book.

In 20th Century British Glass there is one by Ronald Stennett Willson page 333 in blue.  Says it is 3 and 5/8th inch high(9.2cm) and says it comes in two sizes.  The handle shape looks right as well.  It says they are often found with a jasperware medallion.
So maybe John is right and the little plaque fell off or was taken off?

Well done, flying-free. (isn't team work great??).
It says that they're sometimes found with the jasperware bit, it's not necessarily missing, Keith.

When I said the one I saw was ambery in colour, I did mean a particularly gorgeous amber - not brownish, or yellowy but that special shade which screams "quality", the one which glows with an almost hidden fire, orangey/reddy.

If it did not have the jasperware disc would it have had the applied prunt?

Do you mean this kind of Wedgwood amber Sue? If so I think it was called Topaz by Wedgwood.

Yup. But you find a similar "glowing and firey" quality in Webb and Stuart glass, probably others too.
None of these (ie, Keith's, the one in the book or the one I saw) seem to have a place where something is missing...(or is it me missing something even more than usual?)

'Honey amber' I call it,beautiful;there is a mark in the applied piece that looks like something was 'glued' there,heavy for it's size,
