Title: Stevens&Williams acid cutback bowl signed Frederick Card
Post by: Glasshound on November 15, 2005, 02:27:46 AM
Hi Folks,
I have what appears to be an acid cutback bowl signed "F. Carder"...It's 4 inches wide and 2.5 inches tall..The bowl looks more like a Stevens & Williams period piece that it does Steuben...that is, if the signature is genuine...any comments?

thx...Blair

Blair — What a lovely piece.

There is nothing like it in Newby, From Palace to Parlour.

I have no doubt from your brief comment that you have read Hajdamach pp394–400.

I cannot offer any help directly, as this type of glass is outwith my experience.   I suggest that you seek the assistance of Simon Cottle and his team at Sotheby's, London, and Roger Dodsworth and his colleagues at Broadfield House Glass Museum, Kingswinford.   I know Roger is in regular contact with another authority who knows the S&W factory pattern books intimately.

Good luck.
