Not a thing I usually buy, but this looked a bit intriguing, well at least to me. Nicely made with lots of bevel edges, and machine(?) cut pattern on its opaque satin finish exterior. Anyone seen anything like this before please?
TIA ;)

Nice interesting thing, straight lines, Deco perhaps? Bohemian maybe?
Just throwing some ideas in the air! ;D

Thanks Andy ;)
Now you mention it, it does look a bit Art Deco-ish. I'll do some further searches and see if anything comes up.

Just giving this a bump as I'm no nearer to finding out anything about my strange but wonderful ashtray, except that I have spotted a vase with the identical starburst decoration in Dusan's fab Picasa Czech Glass Gallery here https://picasaweb.google.com/exat53/CzGlas#5159382806511458994 so it must be related.
Hopefully it might ring a bell

The country of origin in Dusan's gallery is not always correct... Maybe some more knowledgeable Czech expert can add an opinion. If it's not Czech, my vote would be German.

Thank you Astrid.
In the meantime, I'll continue my hunt :X:

It's Czech, from Chlum u Třeboně glassworks, possibly designed by Jan Gabrhel.
Finally remembered where I had seen this one before -- was in one of the Sypka Czech glass auction catalogues.
There they cited a reference to Czech Glass revue 1967/7, and thanks to great Jindrich I am able to post a link to the page:
