Another mystery needing id. help from the experts, please. I have yet another lovely glass vase for selling on my Ebay charity site - seems to be the season for glass donations. This time it has a mottled sparkly amber pattern with milky surround encased in clear glass, and a heavy base with a beautifully polished pontil. The glass at the rim is about 0.5cm thick, and the vase stands 7.5in (19cm) tall. Any help will be gratefully received. KM.

Sorry if this is not what you want to hear but I think that is most likely a modern polish clear cased vase from either Tarnowiecz or from Makora. It was blown in a single operation, with a polished rim (you did not mention or show this so I am assuming). What you do mention is a beautifully polished pontil - but the picture shows a moulded dimple straightened to increase stability. In any case, any vase polished both on the bottom and on the rim is suspicious. Technically speaking, it is either or - not both.

I would say perhaps Caithness

Does have some similarities to some Polish glass I have recently seen for sale, with their Polish labels.

Looks like the Caithness Whispers range possibly?

Many thanks to you all for your help in this. I think I'll list it as a good quality cased vase unless I find anything identical elsewhere. I'll have a look at the Caithness range. It is a beauty so perhaps someone will buy it just for itself. KM.
