Hi guys
I found this piece in a secondhand shop a couple of days ago the owner thought it was a piece junk so I got it for NZ$2 it is 78mm square and 65mm high the top edge is 9mm thick and it weighs 689gms IMHO it is a quality piece very well made, but I have not seen anything like this before so do not know where to start.

Mandruzzato perhaps
-
I certainly have not seen anything like this before. Could it be modern art, made at college or university? I would love to know what that is behind your item though.
-
Could it be a piece of architectural glass I wonder?
-
Sommerso bowl would be my first thought. As to maker, who knows!
-
Looks German to me - perhaps Ichendorf?

Tony,
the top looks a bit bumpy or is it dirty?? Mandruzatto is all highly polished.

I still think German - and like to add Ilmkristall (GDR) as a candidate.
-
and not enough sommerso for Mandruzatto.

Hi Ivo Many thanks nice glass all the pieces I have on here so far have a flat base mine has a saw tooth pattern

Tony, the similar base on Mandruzatto, is much crisper, sharper and highly polished.
