This vase is similar to the one just posted but however has a significant difference to the base. The vase is 18 cm high, base 5cm dia. There is a polished concave pontil measuring 3.5cm. Near the centre of the base are two small what I think are deliberate cuts/markings. Can anyone identify this please. Originator and age would be of great help.

The two small cuts are where the pontil scar was too deep to polish away without removing too much glass. Have you checked it with your UV light? The green looks as if it could be uranium. I also suggest you read the other recent threads with knobbly vase or Beranek in the title. I don't have time to cross check them.

Hi Christine. Thanks for letting us know and yes, I have checked the vase under UV light and it certainly looks uranium. I had already checked some of the threads prior to posting the most recent two and to be honest I am still not clear as to the originator. The two that I had posted are different, especially around the base area and lobes around the vase. I have even looked through various books and I still unable to match this up. I am currently waiting for more info. to come through regarding threads and the recent post by TheGlassDept. The problem is that there are so much variations of this type of vase that does require the eye of an expert and I can assure you, I am not. Thanks all the same for your contributed effort!
