Title: Dark Duck - Not Whitefriars
Post by: ipdglasspolishing on March 24, 2010, 11:21:37 AM
Hi, it looks WF to me except - wrong colour - no bubbles - and if you look closely there are a couple of extra bits on the back!
ps. I keep trying to open the whitefriars.com website and all I get is gobbledegook, is anyone else having problems?

No not Whitefriars.

The site can be accessed through the server Google Chrome or Firefox. All sections working through those servers with exception of being able to leave a comment on the IS IT? section.( you can upload photos and votes can be added but not comments)  Hopefully it will be sorted with next few weeks.

You can get into the WF site using IE on http://www.whitefriars.com/history1.php
but dont click home, catalogues work ok.

Thanks Andy that link worked fine.
Thanks Emmi, any ideas who?
I agree Johnphillip the metal used is every bit as good as WF. The wear to the base suggests it has quite some age to it, was this influenced by WF or was WF influenced by this?? :

It has been re-named as "Dark Duck" but that is due to my photography it is in fact light aubergine.

You know, I think I've seen one of these with the Bohemia label... (kicks self for being so vague and not taking a picture). In any case, that might be an avenue for enquiry - or it might be a wild duck chase.

Aren't there a couple of these listed or just ended on eBay at the moment?  I think one is in pale blue,  just about to end...

and this one orange, that has ended...

Good evening Ian,

A bit after the event I know but I was the buyer in November of the Sky Blue similar duck mentioned by Rosieposie.

I asked about and was told definitely not WFs and was in fact of American origin.

I now call it my duck about to take off aeronautically rather than financially. :thud:

Cheers

<my snide comment about not giving an airborne waterfowl would probably be moderated out>
