Hello!
Can anyone help me in identifying this vase? (At least I think it’s a vase... forgive my ignorance).
It’s 16cm high and 41cm around at its widest point. It has got 12 ribs which can be felt from the inside as well. The base is smooth.
I’d appreciate any and all help. I've searched the web for clues as to the maker, but have yet to come up with anything... Thank you!

Hi Anik,
nice vase, bottle vase?
cant help with a maker, but as you are in Poland , i suspect its probably from your part of the world.
Cheers

hi there
does the inside of the neck feel slighlty rougher to the rest of the glass or matt at all? im just thinking maybe it had a stopper and was a decanter. From your picture looks like there is a bit of wear to the base? is the base completly flat or is it concave at all?
looks like a very nice piece.

Hello! Thank you for your interest :)
The inside of the neck is perfectly smooth and shiny (as shiny as the outside)...
As for the base, it is completely flat. There are only a few scatches from wear... maybe even too few to be anything 'old'?
Whatever it is, I think it's absolutely lovely -- and much prettier in real life than what I have captured in the pictures.
But I'm still interested in the maker :) Maybe someone will know something? Anything?
All the best!

>:D
I don't think it's Jablonski....
It's really lovely.... I've never seen anything like this before, not with the lobes all angled like this.
It's a very elegant shape too.. there's something "just right" about it

Hello again :)
I'm just trying to stir some more interest in my lovely green lobed vase...
Here is another picture of the base:
Thank you!

I'm still interested, but still don't have a clue!
I'd love to hear what Ivo thinks about it, but as he hasn't said anything yet, I'd imagine he's not sure.

I don't think anything about it as I am 404. It is well designed, well made and well finished. I don't think it is Polish - I'd sooner look in the direction of Germany (Eisch or Joska perhaps?) but really, I'm clueless.

Your opinion of well designed, well made and well finished is a valued opinion, Ivo. Thanks for contributing it.
-
Yes, I certainly DO appreciate the feedback!!! Thank you Sue and Ivo :kissy:

please dont shout at me... ;D its highly likely im well off base
I was looking through Leslie Pina's book Italian Glass Century 20, and on page 28 it has 3 Alfredo Barbini pieces with very similar looking lobes, cased, with flat polished bases, although they dont appear to be angled like this (not easy to tell from the picture).
But on page 65 it has 3 more vases all lobed, chunky and cased, the third one has angled lobes (the angle is sharper than this one) all attributed to Seguso Vetri d'Arte, there is another one on page 66 with curved lobes.
And finally on page 96 there is 2 by Fratelli Toso with lobes although the lobes look the least like the ones on this vase they do seem to curve slightly towards the base.

I'm not going to shout at you - it's a lead worth following. :kissy:

Thank you, Michelle... I will gladly look into it.
I truly appreciate everyone's help! ;D

These ribbed vases were also made in fair numbers in Murano. It looks heavy and quite well made. A few companies made them so you might not even find a specific maker, even if someone else thinks my Murano guess is reasonable.

I have no idea either. Kinda reminds me of this item of mine:

Perhaps a wee shift to the Murano board might help?
Kind Moderators?
-
Yes, maybe a shift to the Murano board would be a good idea :) Thank you!
Antiquerose123 -- I think your vase is charming! It looks like a bonbon wrap ;D Maybe both you and I will learn more about our vases, with some very kind help. By the way, I'm also a Canadian although I've been living in Poland for the past 12 years.

Hello again :)...
a polite bump for this green 12-lobed cased-in-clear (the outside looks transparent when help up to the light) vase...
Could it be Italian? Again, I've searched and searched, but haven't been able to find the same or nearly-the-same vase.
Thank you for looking!

Reminds me of these Murano lamp bases, I know these have a hole in the base but do look similar or wishful thinking Lol

Thank you for taking the time to reply, Chris :)
It does look somewhat similar, minus the hole and air bubbles... another difference is that every 3rd lobe on mine is a little bigger than the other 2.
I guess I'll have to satisfy myself with a 'probably Italian' answer, and as David said, without finding a specific maker.
Thanks again!

A little bump for my vase... :) Thank you.

Hi Anik -I've just put 'Murano' in your subject line to try to attract the attention of the Murano collectors.

Thank you, Cathy! :kissy:

Could my green lobed vase be any relation to Terry's?: http://picasaweb.google.com/muscadale/Murano#5041695295209103634
Thank you :-\

Anik:
I think your piece could be a relative of Terry's, as I've always thought that Murano was a strong possibility. Terry's has a Camer label on it. Camer was a New York importing company that brought in good quality Murano. I would think Terry's vase would be more likely to be Seguso Vetri D'Arte than A. Seguso,
The neck on your piece is what is unfamiliar to me. There's a a wide variety of shapes and colours to these pieces, and the number of ribs also varies. It looks like yours has 13 whereas others can have more or less. Here are three examples to show variety. The first is a corroso piece by Seguso Vetri D'Arte, the second is also SVdA for Saks Fifth Avenue, and the third a candlestick I know not from whom.
I'd have the piece categorized "Murano (?)" until I found a close relative with a solid attribution.

David, thank you for taking the time to reply, and for attaching some pictures. I greatly appreciate it. :)
I will take your advice and settle for a "Murano (?)" attribution (though I do believe I've said exactly the same thing earlier on in this thread. :pb:... But this time, I'm honestly ready to 'let go'. The vase, regardless of its provenance, has a loved place in my collection).
Thank you to everyone who kindly shared their ideas. :hi:
