Title: Help to ID maker & date, two more Venetian glass aventurine finger bowls
Post by: northernridge on March 27, 2010, 03:35:46 PM
While I have three more finger bowls by Salviati similar to the ones I showed on my prior thread, here are two that are fairly different. However, they are all from the same collection. (To reiterate, the retired friend who gave me these to sell inherited them from her grandmother-in-law, a collector residing in Louisville.)

These appear newer. It looks like they were part of a set. With the four different colors in the (single) saucer, I imagine that there were yellow and green bowls, in addition to the blue and pink ones.

This saucer is smaller than the ones I showed in my first thread -- just under 5" diameter (compared to about 6 1/2").

In addition to learning who made these, and when, I would be grateful for advice about listing them, i.e. all together? The pink bowl does fit as well in the saucer, while the blue one sits very well. So perhaps I should sell the blue one with the saucer, and the pink one by itself?

Thank you in advance!

Oops. I meant to say the pink one does not fit as well into the saucer.

Judging from the rims, the bowls were perhaps made by AVeM in the middle 20th Century. I do not know who made the underplates. Often pieces are "married" that are not really part of the set because the filigrana is similar. It is difficult to know without knowing the history of the set.

Thank you again, Anita.

I want to show two more, to ensure that they are authentic Salviatis, as well. To comply with the rules here at GMB, I must start a new thread to do that, right?

Am still hoping someone will come along to advise me on listing the three together...

I thought I should point out that I wrote probably AVeM and not Salviati for the two bowls. I wasn't sure from the "as well" if you knew what I had written.

Yes, indeed, Anita. I understood you the first time. I was referring to two more very similar to the first two, the authentic Salviati ones.
