Title: Murano bowl, Barbini? any ideas on a maker?
Post by: ChrisB on April 02, 2010, 03:23:45 PM
Hello all,

I recently purchased this bowl on good ol fleabay, no doubt some of you saw it on there, anyway it was listed as a Murano bowl, possibly Barbini.  It also said 1950's biomorphic or geode bowl.

It has a body of white glass encased in a amber/honey/ yellow coloured glass.  It measures just under 7" and is 2" high and weighs 600gr. I am a little skeptical as to whether it is a A. Barbini piece after having looked at lots of his other bowls. But I am only a newbie and was hoping maybe someone else with more experience in this area might be able to help. Regardless of the ID, I think its a great little bowl, I would just like to know a bit more about it so anybody that knows ANYTHING about it, your comments would be appreciated! Many thanks.

Chris.

Chris:

Not a geode, which is so called as it looks those round geological geodes, a rock exterior with crystalline interior. And I don't think it's a Barbini either. I would say it's Murano, although I'm not sure you'll be able to identify a compnay.

Hope this helps.
