Title: RED ORANGE BOTTLE VASE
Post by: Kerrykez on April 03, 2010, 04:14:03 PM
Hi, can anyone help me id this 16" tall bottle vase with a ground and polished pontil?   It is half orange/half amber and quite heavyweight.  Thanks.  :)

Hi Kerrykez,
it looks pretty modern to me, Polish area, or maybe China
sort of thing sold in shops like TK Maxx.
Maybe someone will disagree with me??
Cheers
Andy

Earlier topic was inconclusive:
http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,4294.0.html - I wish I could find the maker too!  Incidentally, mine is now sat on the landing window sill alongside a Riihimaki vase which is a dead match for the red-orange colour but there's no evidence the bottles were made by them.

From a distance I often mistake these for Kjell Engman "Tobago" bottles for Kosta Boda....maybe that was the intention of whoever made them?

Martyn, I agree. I too suspect a copy of the Tobago design by person/s unknown... the irritating thing is that I'm sure that way back when I first found the GMB and before I found this bottle, I saw them for sale on a website - in two colourways, this one and a peacock/blue/clear one. I've never been able to find that site again though... how irritating is that!  :hb1:

I had posted similar items here:     http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,26982.0.html  They look very, very similar.....vase, and the bottom.
