Hello, I recently bought this Daum vase and ashtray, and cannot find any information regarding the pattern name, dates of production, etc. They have a rock texture, and appear to be pate' de verre, however, I have been wrong on that before!
-
how are they signed/marked..?
-
Hello, they are both engraved Daum France. I am adding a link to a live eBay auction of the same model vase.

Hi,
I gather that after the war Daum dropped the 'Nancy' and 'Cross of Lorraine' from their signature. Theres some useful info in the link below, especially in some of the JPEG signatures. From looking at your piece I would imagine it would date from around the mid to late 60s.

Hope this helps.

I have the medium sized vase from the same range (pattern no. 'ARGOS 52' - 25cm tall).
The range is called Argos and can be found in the 1980 Daum catalogue.
The pattern number for your vase is either 'ARGOS 41' (22cm tall) or 'ARGOS 61' (30cm tall) and the ashtray is 'ARGOS 24 C'.
The range isn't pate' de verre: it's either cased crystal or crystal with some kind of flashing (I'm not sure), with the outer finish ground away to reveal the crystal 'windows'.
The eBay listing price is completely unrealistic IMHO.

Hello, my vase is 11.75 inches tall, and weighs about 15 pounds. Thank you for that information.
-
That would make it 'Argos 61' then.
The catalogue doesn't reference weights for any of the ranges.

wow - did I hear that right msiscoe - heading towards 7 kilos! - some lump.
-
Let's just say it is a "substantial" piece of glass!
-
I do not know about the piece of glass, but the seller has listed it before.... it attained around 15% of the now asking price if memory serves me correctly.......... The seller is from the same area I am and I know personally who the seller is.... and if the glass was owned by the Ambassador to Mexico, then my long lost twin brother is President Obama.......
-
Hello, could you please arrange a meeting between me and President Obama? There's a few questions I would like to ask him......

OH is in the white house next week I shall get him to ask for a rendevous Msiscoe :24:

Hello, the gentleman who once owned this was actually the Canadian Ambassador to Monaco, not Mexico. That MUST be where all the confusion came in..... ::)
