Title: Opalescent pressed glass waterlily bowl
Post by: glassobsessed on April 06, 2010, 07:37:35 PM
Trying to id this bowl for a friend, snapped these photos in a hurry and they are not that great - tweaked the contrast to try and make them clearer. I am way out of my comfort zone with this bowl, I have floundered around trying to id it, hardly know where to start.

Pressed glass from a four part mould, with what I think look like waterlilies, size is about 10 inches/26 cm in diameter and 4 inches/10 cm tall. No identifying marks.

Am I right in thinking they are waterlilies and is opalescent the right description? Also, of course, does anyone recognise it?

Help!

Thanks,
John

Hi John,
This bowl is from the Barolac range, made by Josef Inwald. I don't recall the catalogue number, but I'm sure it'll be on the CD included with Marcus's book. An example of this pattern is also shown in Ph. Decelle's Opalescence Le Verre Moule des Annees 1920-30.

Thanks Steven that's great, didn't spot it on the CD but that may well just be me.
