I have looked everywhere for this goat/ram - looked at Kosta Boda etc. have found similar but not the same. Any ideas please?
-
looks to be a hoglund piece to me, im struggling with my comp today so cant search but im sure somebody will confirm
-
Yes, I thought of him, but couldn't find anything, I'll keep trying. Thanks for your reply....hope your comp gets better :)

It's possible that it is the Steinbok mentioned here (http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,26989.msg149667.html#msg149667) but having never seen one this is just a guess.

Thanks for the link John.....just a little question! It is mentioned in the link that Kosta made an "Ibis with curly horns". Google tells me that an Ibis is a bird.
-
Just a typo, the Ibix is shown at the top of the page 2. ;D

;D Yes, sorry John....I have just seen it :-[
-
Woohoo...found it in this extraordinary collection, 4th photo!

Well spotted indeed! I just located my flat-back polar bear in the mix. Thanks for the link, peejy.

You're welcome Anita - interesting site isn't it?
-
Is there a moderator about?
The title of this thread needs a tweak, this item is not the Ibix but the Steinbok.
Thanks.

Perhaps add steinbok, as it is an ibex, note the e

Sorry, I'm still confused. :) Is it definitely the Steinbok? John says possibly the Steinbok, but hadn't seen it, and peejyweejy found the piece in the collection, which suggests that it's Kosta Boda, but the link doesn't say what it's supposed to represent - is it close enough to give a definitive answer yet?
-
I'm assuming that the English word is Ibex and the German/Africaans word for the same animal is Steinbok. Though Steinbok seems to be used as a generic term for any horned goat/antelope. Me? I'd call the piece an Ibex,

No, the Kosta Boda model of the Ibex only has the one curly horn.
-
Why don't you email the glass club and ask if you can have a contact email for "Ed"
-
Sorry for the confusion, as I understand it, this is the Ibex (http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,26989.msg149554.html#msg149554).
The critter with the two curly horns in this thread I believe to be the Steinbok (http://www.in-chemnitz.de/zoo/chemnitz/bilder/steinbok.jpg) as it looks a lot like the images and depictions I was able to find.
Given my track record with glass animals it may of course be a Giraffe. ;D

FYI:

That's useful NKP - thank you!
-
Except of course we now know what the bock and the steinbock look like, but we don't know if there is an ibex as well
-
And it's a mirror image.
