Hello , Can anyone id this 8 inch high, light blue vase. It has oval 'lens' indents all around , and a pontil mark on base. Any info will be appreciated , with thanks Kez

Hi - welcome to the board, Kez!
Could you show us what the pontil mark looks like? There are many different ways of finishing-off this mark on glass and the way it is done can often help with identification.

Hope this ok, pontil mark is surrounded by six oval, i am guessing, pattern impressions. Thankyou Sue

Thanks, Kez - that was quick.
How unusual! The oval indents look decidedly moulded, so the presence of a highly polished round pontil mark like this is a bit unexpected.
I would suspect it might be of eastern european origins, (Bohemian) and I've not caught up with all the new info about that sort of thing - there are loads of folk here who have though.
I hope somebody will be able to give you a bit more info. soon!

Yes , it is a bit odd. Thanks for the welcome , I have a few pieces that I have not been able to ID , so I am glad I have found this website

It may take a little time for the right person to come along and have a look at it, Kez, but it's certainly an interesting piece.
Polishing glass is very time-consuming.
In general, if somebody has taken the time and trouble to do this, it's reasonable to think they rated the piece of glass reasonably highly.

I believe i have seen a few of them in the past and the outer ring of six is part of the pattern and possibly Stourbridge quite old .

Thanks Johnphillip, for the lead, will look into Stourbridge
