Title: Scandinavian ? What is it?
Post by: chriscooper on April 17, 2010, 12:12:54 PM
It is 9" long with a sharp point. Letter opener? page turner? ice pick?

Made in Mexico and sold to tourists - just don't ask me what it is for.

The point might be a tad worrying. Is there a compartment for batteries?

Hi all, I know it's not a great photo (failed attempt to alter my camera settings to try and avoid the pain of shrinking the photos) it is 'real' glass, it's quite a pale Green in colour 3/4 inch thick at the handle hand the 'blade' is half round flat underside and tapers off to a vicious point. Ivo a Mexican tourist item it may be, but even 'eyes wide open' and a vivid imagination surely not!!! :o

Not sure what you mean here.  In Mexico they refer to this material as "Quartz" - which is a high lead crystal formula and is not related to the natural variety. Should you ever get to Chitzen Itza or to Teotihuacan you will have to fight a mile of vendors who are all selling items in this material, and in man made obsidian. Some of these items are really brilliantly done.
